Trial and Error

Do you notice less frizz?
I asked a woman at the zoo to tell me what she does with her daughters hair and she got in there and showed me. It was so sweet, but I'm not sure how much I like it. I think I would like it if it was longer. I feel like she looks like a boy with those spirals.

Look at our sweetie showing her doll how to use the potty. She is getting the hang of it.

Let's celebrate

First, L pooped on the potty!!! Woop Woop!!
Second, it's my 100th post - I created this blog to help anyone else who is considering adoption. I'm not sure if anyone reads this blog for that purpose, but maybe someday somebody will

Potty Training

Well, today starts all the struggle. Today, L goes to the corner starts grunting and says poop. So, I ran over take her pants off and I was too late. I still sat her on the potty, but she was not happy. We had a party for sitting on the potty. She produces no more, so she gets up and tries to put her pants on. She then tries to put on my bathing suit bottoms. Next, she goes over to the diapers and tries to put that on. Right now I have a naked unhappy little girl. She's peed on the floor and didn't like that at all. I wasn't planning on starting until next week, but if she knows when she is pooping I say it's time to start.

Transitioning

We are one lucky family to get one amazing girl. Our toughest obstacle are naps/ and night time. E goes down without fuss. L is another story. But tonight... was awesome. Only a few minutes of tears and then she calmed down and fell asleep. (I always lay with her until she is out) I was not expecting a child to come into this home and adjust so well. It's a nice surprise. Her and E get along like sisters. They share and kiss and help each other, but they also get jealous, don't share, and torment each other. It's exactly what we wanted and we feel so blessed. Next week we will go to a cabin with a few friends and we are so excited.

We had a fun filled day of feeding their leftovers to the dogs ( I don't know how this started but they think it's so funny.)

And petting Claudia (Don't let E's face fool you, they were having a blast)

Dreaming

This week she will come stay with us for good. I don't know how I am going to manage the move with two girls in the car, but it will all work out. I can't believe this is finally happening!!

Pony Pictures and hair

Did you ever get your picture taken on the pony in front of your grocery store? I am excited to start this tradition with my girls.

On another note. I did L's hair for the first time. It looks pretty bad. I attempted a small braid up front. I need to work on my french braids. hahah

Napping with the girls

Today the GAL came over to sign off on overnight visits. She was very nice and I appreciated her coming on short notice. I went and picked up L (not her birth name- if I haven't mentioned that before). We played with the in-laws for a bit and then it was nap time. For all of the day visits, the girls never napped at the same time. I wasn't sure how it was going to go since they share a room. It went great! I put E in her crib and then laid with L. They both wanted to keep playing, but I didn't move and didn't say a thing. Finally I was acting like my eyes were getting heavy and L kept grabbing ahold of my eyelashes and opening them back up! hahahah I didn't laugh because I didn't want to change the mood. Not long after she was down. But my baby girl was still up whining in her crib. I had my back to her and about 10 minutes later she was out. It was so sweet. Later, I woke up and was debating whether or not I should leave the room and about 10 minutes of just laying there, E woke up. I was able to get out of the bed grab E and go downstairs without waking up L. I can't believe how well it went. Lets hope tonight goes as smoothly.

I LOVE HAVING TWO KIDS!

FINALLY

Maybe if I wrote a post sooner some progress would have come earlier. Exciting news... we start overnight visits and she will be with us forever in a week and a half!!!! Oh I can't wait. I think a trip to the beach should happen Friday to celebrate!

My Aunt

You would never meet a woman as sweet and genuine as my aunt. She does everything in her power to help anyone she can. She has a billion friends, and rightfully so. She is just an amazing person to know. She was so excited for us to adopt. She prayed for us. She (and my uncle) let us have the yard sales at their house. What am I getting at? Well I posted on facebook that I wanted this print

And she bought it for me. I wasn't expecting that at all. I was just saying how much I liked it. It made my day. Especially since we won't have our girl today.
If you would like this print too, go to The Black Apple Shoppe on Etsy

Thanks Aunt T! I am one lucky lady to know you!

Until next time

Every time we smile we will be thinking about you and wishing you were with us
