Cutting Back

We are going to do everything we can to bring our baby home. M and I talked and if our house is worth it, we are going to put it on the market. I called the realtor today. This makes me sad because I LOVE our house. We looked at over 100 houses before we found this one. Well over 100. Our realtor is the best. He drove us to every house we looked at, except this one. hahah We are getting rid of cable. We are going to try and find homes for our cats. We are going to cut our cell phone bill. I offered to get a job, but M really wants me to stay home with E (as do I). If we move we will miss having sweet Jack down the street.

So if you know anyone looking for the cutest 2 bedroom house, here it is.

  1. Are you going to look for a cheaper house, or move to a rental property?

I'm sad to hear that you have to go to this extreme, but it really shows how committed you are and your future children will know that love.

  2. I am sad that you may be leaving your house. Like Jaz said, it shows your determination. I wish you all the best! <3

  3. OK, I love you all dearly.

Don't sell the house. I have no idea what your house payment is like as it's really none of my business, but to rent a house with enough room for a kid and all those dogs will be similar to what you're probably paying now unless you've got a high-interest mortgage. Right now you have a solid asset that is only increasing in value. Why get rid of that?

You can make things happen if you're:

    A) Patient. There are thousands, if not millions, of children out there to waiting to be adopted. They'll still be there next year, the year after, and the year after. When you're ready, there will be a child ready for you.

    B) Cut costs further. You've gotten rid of the cable and iPhones -- add up your expenses -- you can probably find another $20-$30 a week that you spend on pre-packaged food or eating out that can instead go into the kitty.

    C) A 10-15 hour a week part time gig will help out immensely. Maybe it'll be all you need to secure the funds necessary to adopt in a year or two. You have tons of family members and friends who would love to watch Edith.

But I cannot recommend you sell your house and lose that equity.
