box braids and festival.

It took me three hours, but I put Honey's hair in small box braids all over her head. I think it looked really nice.  I saw a youtube clip this youtube clip of a transracial mom.  Actually I don't think it was that clip specifically, but the one I was looking for wouldn't pull up on here. Which showed me how she cut her daughters hair. since I am none too familiar with black hair I cut it her way instead of how I learned in beauty school, the white way.  Her Blog is great. Keep Me Curly.
See her eyes.  I put some of my old liquid eyeliner on her.
I was trying to be fun mom who doesn't care if her daughter plays in my makeup.
Well, it wouldn't come off.
I used eye makeup remover and everything... oops.
I scrubbed it off but left a rub burn in it's place.
I didn't realize I was rubbing so hard.
Cool mom fail.
Honey's practicing changing her brothers diaper.

After doing her hair for three hours I told the hubs to take them up to our neighborhood perish.
Our friend's who live a couple of streets away met up with them.

Apparently Pumpkin kept trying to climb out of the rides.  Thank God she wasn't able to.

Obviously, the best picture of the day.

They danced a little too hard and Honey knocked Pumpkin over and scabbed her face.

Adoption picnic

We went to an adoption picnic held by a local adoption support network.
I was hoping to make some friends there, but that's not how I work in new social situations.  I was quiet, and waited to see if anyone would come talk to me.  Sometimes I can push myself out of the anxiety but if I don't know anyone else there but my family, it's really hard.

I can see Pumpkin has my anxiety as well.

As always, my girls were the cutest ones.
They have get togethers once a month and I really should go... who wants to go with me until I get over my fear? hahahah

hike part 2

After our hike we hung out in the main part of the park.

As you can see by pumpkin's hair, it was windy.

We tried to fly a kite...
 it didn't work.

We lost our Hotsling at the park. I'm super bummed. I loved that one.
I ordered a new one from babysteals aready, but they changed the design.
We went home and Honey gave me a show.

Saturday hike (part 1)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE our hikes.   Do you follow this blog?
Seriously, that is my dream.  I wish we could move there.
It's been my dream since 1997.
If not Alaska, then maybe Washington or Oregon?

But for now I will have to settle for our local park district.
We started off with a gas station lunch.  I never think about meals before we head off.
Trail mix, peanut butter crackers, and bananas

I also need to remember to put pants on the girls.  Or knee socks.
